A Pousada is a Hotel that is owned and partly managed by the
Portuguese State. They can be classified in general as providing
either a 5-Star or 4-Star service and associated facilities. The
locations can be seen below listed under each individual region.
Many Pousadas are interesting historic buildings, such as a
castle or a monastery, and are now restored due to their fine
location and often providing panoramic views. Normally, they are
also altered to provide their guests with very comfortable
accommodation and quality cuisine with a selection of local
specialties. |

ondergebracht zijn in historische gebouwen, zoals burchten of
kloosters. Ook deze Pousadas vallen onder Monumentenzorg. De
Pousadas zelf is echter door bekende Portugese binnenhuisarchitecten
modern ingericht net als alle kamers.
