Termas da Azenha
is an original, creative, quiet and natural holiday-destination,
suitable for families/people who like simple but comfortable,
quiet but active, peaceful but cozy, original but well taken
care of. In the Termas you can enjoy a massage (a warm water
massage, footmassage, shiatsu, relaxing massages), you can make
beautiful walks, you can do "a day mosaic-making", you can enjoy
each others company, a good and healthy meal and of the homemade
wine of the neighbors.
The Termas is a (very) small farm, it has a vegetable garden,
chicken and sheep, cats and dogs. It is a spa resort since 1711
and before; the water is curative, good for skin diseases. It is
very pure mineral water. The Termas is situated in a marvelous
walking area and not too far from the beaches. And some of those
beaches are very quiet, even in the middle of Summer!
The Termas is in fact a little village on itself, and is
situated on the edge of a vast valley, where rice is grown.
Therefore, it is beautifully green in Spring and red-blond in
Summer. The valley is surrounded by typically Portuguese little
villages and eucalyptus forests, which spread their lovely scent
all over the area.
ISIS and AFRICA are charming family houses (sleeps 4 and a baby)
situated in the Casa Principal, where the wonderful wall
painting catches your eye immediately. If you walk through the
corridor, you will find the kitchen (fully equipped) and the
twin bedroom with a cot, another bedroom with double bed and the
bathroom. There is a cot, a high chair and some toys. In the
living you will find a lovely mosaic. Both houses have their own
entrance and terrace, and may make use of the children patio
with little swimming pool, sandbox, swings and clay box. Next to
the children patio is a field where children can play ball, or
play anything they'd like!
The studios CEYLON and CHINA are decorated
in an artistic way. It is one room, kitchen, living with a cosy
couch and an antique wooden screen. Behind the screen are the
beds. The studios have a little terrace, where you can take your
breakfast or look at the sunset. The studios have a beautiful
view on the valley. You can park close.
Family houses OLIVEIRA and PALMEIRA are very
original houses, with a living and kitchen in one, a cozy swing
couch on the veranda and marbled bedrooms (nice and cool in
Summer) and a marvelous bathroom with mosaics. There is a big
cupboard where you can put all your suitcases and things. There
is a cot, a high chair and some toys. The houses have their own
entrance.
SURROUNDINGS: The Atlantic coast is at a distance of 12 km.,
with a broad choice in different beaches. In Figueira da Foz you
can find beaches with a football field, volleyball field or
basketball field. Also terraces, tents, bicycles for rent and so
on. The other extreme is Costa de Lavos, where you can be on
your own, even in the middle of August! Here you can buy fresh
fish from the fishermen on the beach!
Coimbra is a halfhour-drive away, where you ~ amongst other
things ~ can visit the famous Library and University, the oldest
in Europe./Roman Ruins in Conimbriga, place of pilgrimage Fátima
and the old monastery of Batalha are all within reach.
During your walks you can meet a fox, a badger, a marten,
storks, flamingos, egrets and maybe even the beautiful blue
kingfisher!
You can cook yourself, but you can also have dinner with us.
Every day a nice menu, no card, but you can choose between fish,
meat or vegetarian. We eat our own vegetables and fruit from our
own garden (or from the neighbors´), we eat fish fresh from the
ocean and a fine quality meat from the real butcher.
