Come and see for yourself! - São Miguel & Pico - two weeks program

We know that your dream is to be more close to the whales and dolphins as possible. Here it is your chance! Join with us in an educational program of 15 days in one of the best world area’s to the mammals’ observation – the Azorean Islands.

More than 24 whales and dolphins species are observable in the azorean sea. In our program, we easily discover about ten species: common dolphins, striped dolphins, spotted dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, risso’s dolphins, sperm whales, pilot whales, blue whales, fin whales, sei whales and common beaked whales.

The educational leaking punctuates our planning in parallel with investigation actions either developed by us or in the support of exterior entities, as the Universities, students and scientific foundations.

Along the entire program, a marine biologist with a vast knowledge about cetaceans will give you all the necessary support to enlarge your knowledge about these animals. Our main attention relapses in the sperm whale, the most present specie in these islands and that maintain a connection with its people more over than 200 years.

In the Azorean Islands, there are resident groups of sperm whales, observable during all the year and with well determined reproduction cycles. Our program constitutes a chance to contact with the Azorean Whaling culture and patrimony perpetuated in the museums and old factories.

In Pico Island, you will have the opportunity to participate directly in the risso’s dolphin’s investigation, residents in Ribeiras – Pico. The investigations are led by the “Fundação Nova Atlantis”, one of the Azores Whale Watching partners.
