Monte Maravilhas is a 22 acres (8,5 ha) estate situated in the South of Portugal, near Lake Santa Clara in the foothills of the Monchique mountain range. Maravilhas is the original name, it is Portuguese for "Miracles".
The property features three houses that have been renovated with loving care. On arrival, you will first see Casa Amarela and Casa Mimosa, and further up is Casa Azul. Each house has its own terrace with superb views, much privacy, parasols and sun beds. The swimming pool, beautifully located in the
valley, is available for all guests.
The estate is hilly and covered with many cork and olive trees. Terraces, made of natural stones, have plants and flowers. In the green valley are several water wells as well as an orchard with grapevines and fig-, orange- and apple trees. In winter and spring water flows through the stream.
Monte Maravilhas is 500 m from the public road so an ideal place to enjoy a peaceful and quiet holiday.
Casa Amarela
Casa Amarela, the yellow house, is the largest accommodation offering three bedrooms, a living room with open kitchen, hall, toilet and a bathroom, including shower and bath. The living room has a wooden floor and opens out onto a spacious terrace.
Casa Azul
The blue house, has a living room with wooden floor, kitchen, two bedrooms , hall, toilet and bathroom. Patio doors open on two sides of the living room to sunny terraces. It is located 300m from the other houses .
All three houses are fully equipped and have wood burning heaters. The wood and the water, from a bore hole, both come from the land.
Monte Maravilhas is situated 1 km from São Martinho das Amoreiras, an authentic Portuguese village. In the village are various shops, a post office and pubs. The surrounding area is ideal for hiking. There are two bikes available for guests.
Santa Clara Lake is 13 km from Monte Maravilhas and the unspoilt Atlantic coast and beaches are 45 km away. |
